Carmen Kosicek

APRN, MSN, PMHNP-BC

Carmen Kosicek, a practicing Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, PMHNP, leads a team of PMHNPs who, along with her, provide psychiatric services and psychiatric medication management for children and adults across four states, Arizona/Iowa/Oregon/Wisconsin.

Carmen practices telepsychiatry in the outpatient arena caring for her clients, children through adults, in settings spanning group homes, county facilities, DOC and suburban markets across the spectrum of psychiatric conditions and addiction.   Her focus is streamlining medications and first focusing on FDA indicated, current, evidenced based practice.

Carmen is a national collegiate clinical educator of APNP clinical residents, NP Residents, pharmacy students, physician assistant students, and entry-level nurses at the company she founded and runs, Alay Health Team. Students throughout the nation have come on-site, as well as those who come via telepsyiatry, to learn from her about innovative care in the psychiatry and addiction arenas in healthcare.

Carmen has Affiliation Agreements with over 45+ colleges and universities throughout the US to teach their students about current pharmaceutical therapies, nutraceutical offerings and wholistic care offerings via telepsychiatry. Her passion of serving in underserved markets via telepsychiatry has additionally commanded the attention of innovative market leaders in health care economics, digital therapeutics and broader healthcare markets.

Carmen has two post graduate certifications, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and a Certificate in Nurse Midwifery.

With her Master of Science in Nursing, from the globally recognized leader in nursing education, The Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH, Carmen's strong base in nursing education was formed at one of the country’s top collegiate programs of study.

Carmen pursued her first postgraduate education at one of the top 15 nurse-midwifery and nurse practitioner programs in the country, Frontier University in Hyden, KY, where she obtained a postgraduate certificate as an Advanced Practice Nurse in Nurse-Midwifery in 1998. Undergraduate studies, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, from St. Joseph College of Nursing at the University of St. Francis in Joliet, IL, and Associate of Applied Science in Nuclear Medicine from Triton College in River Grove, IL, solidified Carmen's health care insights.

Carmen's second post-graduate Nurse Practitioner certification, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), was from the Apple Distinguished Program for innovation, leadership and educational excellence at the University of Cincinnati 19 years after she completed her first post graduate NP population focus.

Carmen not only has an extensive and accomplished academic background; she additionally has a solid and multi-faceted experienced career in health care spanning women's health, prison nursing, labor and delivery, psychiatric nursing, collegiate nursing education and business – in addition to being an award-winning, published nursing author.

Truly a teacher, Carmen is a nationally known professional educator who tours the United States to speak and teach health care professionals about current, cutting edge pharmaceutical therapies. From Medical Advisory Boards to Steering Committees, Carmen actively interfaces with leading key opinion leaders from across the nation to analyze clinical data and review real-world clinical experiences to further drive and develop progressive care models.

Her latest focus is that as the Subject Matter Expert and Industry Liaison for a national market disruptive NP/PA residency program to further reach and teach providers in psychiatry and family practice about current, evidenced based practices surrounding psychiatry.

Carmen is nationally recognized for her cutting edge innovation with current pharmaceutical selections, digital therapeutic utilization, neuro cognitive testing and numerous available technologies within psychiatry for today's markets for care of patients across the payor spectrum.
